Ethics Bowl Team Advances to Nationals

After just three years of competing at the regional level in the Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl, Cal Poly is sending a team to the Nationals. The national competition has been in existence since 1997. Previous winners include West Point, the Air Force Academy, Clemson and the University of Miami. This year’s regional competition was held at Chico State on December 3. We sent two teams. Facing off against teams from UC Santa Cruz, Santa Clara University, San Diego State, San Jose State, Cal Poly Pomona and many others, one of our teams finished second and received an invitation to compete for the national championship to be held in Dallas on February 26. The members of our winning team are pictured on the department’s main webpage.

Both teams were coached by Professor David Zoller who was assisted by Professor Ryan Jenkins. Many thanks are due to David, Ryan, and all of the participants in all of our current and previous Ethics Bowl efforts. Very special thanks are due to the College of Liberal Arts and the many private supporters of our program. The costs associated with this event are substantial and would not have been manageable without the generous support we have received from the college, our alumni, and the parents of our students. We thank you all for making this special experience available to our talented students. With your further support, we will be able to continue to develop the potential of our students to the fullest.
